우리는 지금 ‘믿지 못할 이야기’ 속에 살고 있다.

스크린 안에서 생성되는 이미지들은 현실과 거의 구분되지 않을 만큼 정교하지만, 그 정교함은 오히려 세계에 대한 신뢰를 흔든다. 현실은 점점 또렷해지는 동시에 더 불확실해진다. 박이도 작가는 이러한 현실 속에서 회화를 다시 바라본다.

새가 인간에게 말을 건네는 장면은 현실에서는 성립하기 어렵다. 그러나 화면 안에서는 전혀 동요하지 않는다. 설명되지 않는 관계는 무너지지 않고, 모든 요소가 흔들림 없이 자리를 지키며 하나의 구조로 유지된다. 현실에서는 낯설게 보일 장면도 화면 안에서는 자연스럽게 존재한다. 이번 전시는 바로 그 역설에 주목한다. 허구는 이곳에서 또 하나의 현실을 구성하는 방식이 된다.

《믿지 못할 이야기》는 비현실적인 상상을 제시하지 않는다. 의심이 앞서는 시대 속에서, 회화가 어떻게 장면을 붙들고 하나의 세계를 완결하는지에 대한 기록이다. 믿지 못할 이야기가 가장 단단하게 자리하는 공간에서, 화면 안에 형성된 또 하나의 현실을 마주하는 시간이 되기를 바란다.

<Unbelievable Tales>

We are living in an age of “unbelievable tales.”
Images generated on screens have become so precise that they are almost indistinguishable from reality; yet this very precision unsettles our trust in the world. Reality appears ever clearer, and at the same time, increasingly uncertain. In this context, Ido Park turns back to painting.

A scene in which a bird speaks to a human may be implausible in reality. Yet within the frame, it does not waver. Unexplained relationships do not collapse; each element holds its position, maintaining a coherent structure. What might seem strange in the real world exists naturally within the pictorial space. This exhibition draws attention to that paradox. Here, fiction becomes a means of constructing another reality. Unbelievable Story does not present a fantastical imagination. Rather, it records how painting sustains a scene and completes a world in an era defined by doubt. In a space where unbelievable stories take their most solid form, the exhibition invites viewers to encounter another reality formed within the frame.
